Dear Friends in Christ,
As we gathered to reflect on this year’s annual giving campaign, we began by thinking about stewardship in general. In doing so, we realized that following Christ is not about fund raising, but it is a commitment to a way of life. We believe that being a Christian is to be awakened to the reality of God’s love to us in Christ, to dedicate our lives in service to God and to offer a portion of our time, talent and treasure to the church for use in God’s ongoing transformation of our world.
As members of the vestry, it is a privilege to serve St. David’s, but it is also an awesome responsibility. We have been given much to care for: a building, a staff, the sacramental life of the church, programs of education and caring, a larger community with ever growing needs. All of these ministries call for a portion of our time, talent and treasure.
This year we would like to do more than sustain our current ministries; we would like to expand them.
- Now that we have a new music director in place, we would like to increase the amount of money we currently spend on music.
- With the growth and increasing popularity of the Celtic Celebrations, we would like to enhance Stretch Hall to make a more attractive space for both fellowship and worship.
- Finally, as a result of our Grow the Church project, we see the need to spend some funds on marketing the gifts we have to offer our community.
Yours in Christ,
Elaine Breckenridge, Theresa Brim, John Finlon, Steve Joyce, Gerald Okihara, Sue Pratt
