HONDURAS SCHOLARSHIP

Since 1999, parishioners at St. David’s have donated $500 yearly to provide a scholarship for a child in LaCeiba, Honduras to attend a private school. In 2003, we raised funds to support Alan Green in the 7th grade. He lives in a one-room home with his single mother, a part-time nursery teacher.   He will be finishing school in 2006-07.

The scholarship program was organized by Dr. Carole Denison, a medical missionary in Honduras, originally from Spokane. Dr. Carole Denison’s emergency medical clinic, Clinica Episcopal Santisima Trinidad, is now closed.  When it operated, it received financial support and donations from St. David's.

LINWOOD SCHOOL READERS

Several parishioners volunteer to listen to children read at Linwood School, next door to the church, and find it very rewarding. The program is part of the Spokane County's Retired & Senior Volunteer Program's "RSVP Reading Corps," but you certainly don't have to be "senior" to participate!  More  volunteers are always needed. If you’re interested, call the school at 353-5295.
