Columbarium & memorial garden
St. David's has an attractive memorial garden with a sculptured bronze columbarium on the east side of the church. It was blessed on Sunday, November 11, 2001 by Bishop James Waggoner. An exposed-aggregate walkway and patio area was added in 2002.
Three decorative concrete benches and four planters were installed in memory of loved ones. Brass-colored plaques commemorate those whose ashes are inurned in the columbarium or buried in the memorial garden, and those in whose memory donations to the garden were given.
Including an expansion in 2009, the columbarium now contains 72 niches. Because of the columbarium's modular style, more niches can easily be added in the future. Brass nameplates on the niches identify the purchasers. A separate trust fund accounts for income and expenses. A committee of six maintains the garden and provides supervision.
Forty-four (44) people have already chosen
a niche. Have you been thinking about making your
final arrangements as a gift to your family? Individual niches are
available. The expense remains for the time
being at $400 for an individual niche, with family members selecting
adjoining niches. You are encouraged to visit the Columbarium in the
Memorial Garden and to ask questions to help you think about your
decision without feeling you have to make a commitment. Contact the church office for more information.
