St. David's Episcopal Church
An inclusive church and welcoming community, growing in Christ and offering all seekers spiritual nourishment for the journey.

VISION STATEMENT AND GOALS

At their September 2005 meeting, the Rector and Vestry agreed upon a working vision statement with goals to focus the work of our ministry together at St. David's for the coming year. The vision and goals reflect the work of the Search Committee in compiling parishioner input for the creation of the parish profile. They read:

As the Rector and Vestry members of St. David's Episcopal Church, we affirm that we are called to be a community of faith which is receptive to receiving the love of God, striving to love our neighbors as ourselves, and proclaiming by word and example the Good News as revealed in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to be the Church, the incarnation of the Kingdom of God, called to celebrate God's presence in our worship for all ages and in our fellowship;

to proclaim Christ crucified and risen, and to bring others into that experience;

to grow intellectually and spiritually as we learn and pray together;

to practice faithful stewardship, sharing our time, talents and treasure;

so that equippped we are able to follow the example of Jesus who loved and served others,  and empowered by the Spirit, to work for reconciliation, healing and justice;

trusting in the God of new creation who longs for the transformation of ourselves, our church and our world.

To this end, working with our Rector, we will seek to:

1.  offer traditional and innovative forms of worship for all ages;

2.  implement new member ministry programs geared to attract new families and younger people;

3.  implement new member ministry programs geared to incorporate people of all ages;

4.  strengthen programs in Christian education and spiritual formation for all ages;

5.  educate ourselves and apply ourselves to growing in our personal and corporate practice of stewardship;

6.  develop a mutual ministry of leadership which utilizes the gifts and talents of both lay and ordained ministers;

7.  involve more people in our pastoral care, healing, outreach, and social justice ministries;

8.  celebrate the play, spontaneity, and the special gifts of children and youth in our midst; and

9.  be open to the gifts of joy and wonder in all our work together.
